A Diamond in the Rough: Private Winery Experience at CONSTANT Diamond Mountain Vineyards
Bask in the breathtaking views high above Napa Valley from the summit of Diamond Mountain while you and five of your friends enjoy a private vineyard tour, wine tasting and lunch at one of the area’s oldest and smallest (and highest!) wineries: CONSTANT Diamond Mountain Vineyard. Situated on 120 acres originally settled in 1895, the winery was reestablished in 1993 under the care of Fred and Mary Constant, who purchased the overgrown vineyard after decades of post-Prohibition neglect. They began growing grapes for winemakers in the blossoming Napa area and eventually decided to build their own winery on the land –– along with a beautiful home overlooking the valley floor. Though the Constants produced their first vintage in 1993, their wine remained unreleased until 1995, when, with winemaker Philippe Melka at the helm. they finally felt it was worthy of public consumption. The property is now under the care of Aries Liu and Sai You who, alongside current consulting winemaker, Paul Hobbs, remain committed to producing CONSTANT’s beautiful Bordeaux varietals.
Elegant and rich, CONSTANT wines are at once powerful and understated. The unique microclimate at the top of Diamond Mountain provides grapes with optimal sun exposure and elongated ripening periods, allowing Hobbs and the CONSTANT team to make exceptional wines, perfectly representing the stunning and unique mountain site in every bottle.
While enjoying lunch and touring the winery, take in the glorious views of Mount St. Helena as you sip some of the most sought-after wines in Napa Valley.
