Claire-Voyant: A Taste of William Cole
Insert yourself into the storied history of William Cole Vineyards while you and three others enjoy a tour and tasting of the Napa Valley winery. You’ll also take home one 1.5L bottle of the 2016 Cuvée Claire Cabernet Sauvignon, the cornerstone of the William Cole portfolio. Named after owners William and Jane Ballentine’s daughter Claire, this vintage has tastes of black fig, toffee, and sweet oak and has been aged 30 months in French Oak.
In 1999, the Ballentines purchased a 19th-century ghost winery in St. Helena that had been shuttered since Prohibition. After learning more about the winery’s history, the Ballentines wanted to restore the original integrity of the building while incorporating modern winemaking techniques. William Cole—named for William and their son Cole—opened as a fully operational winery in 2004. The winery now produces a Chardonnay and two Cabernet Sauvignons from their 2.5-acre estate vineyard. The soil composition along the lower slopes of Spring Mountain creates elegant, complex wines while the gentle, slow winemaking practices of William Cole showcase their grapes.
